Bio ~ Steve “Bunker” De France
A veteran Arizona actor, stuntman, stand-in, and riding double whose career includes over fifty episodes of the Tucson-lensed TV series The High Chaparral. Bunker appeared on such classic Western TV shows as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Death Valley Days and Little House on the Prairie when they filmed in Arizona.
His movie career in Arizona goes back to 1963. His Arizona Western films include Hombre with Paul Newman, Heaven with a Gun with Glenn Ford, Monte Walsh with Lee Marvin, Dirty Dingus Magee with Frank Sinatra, Rio Lobo with John Wayne, Wild Rovers with William Holden, Ulana’s Raid with Burt Lancaster, and The Man who Loved Cat Dancing with Burt Reynolds.
Bunker spent several years as a Hollywood stuntman working on big action films like Lethal Weapon and Rambo 3. The last several years he has been back in Arizona serving on the board of the Empire Ranch and hosting the
Weekly podcast Voices of the West. He has recently been named a Mescal Legend at the Western set located near Benson.
