Bio ~ Joseph Weber

Owner operator of Worth Saving Ministry. Podcast Host for The Freedom Project Podcast you tube channel. Musician. Chaplain. Author.   Former co-owner of 717 Communications Int’l.

Husband to Teresa for 52 years. 4 Children, 7 Grandchildren, 1 great Grand Daughter. Born in Canada. Resides in small town in Ontario Canada.

This is a novel I wrote more than 20 years ago as part of my recovery. It was about 5 years in the works and I had never really intended it to be published.  In my capacity as a Chaplain I have been involved in working with The Manie Daniels Center and I am hopeful the book can raise a portion of the operating budget for the treatment center. The story of Last Call is a fiction, but the stories in Last Call are an accurate depiction of the places we can go as addicts. Alcoholism and addiction are family diseases, and the cure is real, and it is available.

As a father, Grandfather, Great Grand Father and a Husband for 51 years, I have lived through and witnessed the effects of substance abuse in families and the cycle of dysfunction inevitably created. I have also been privy to the miracle and privileged to be able to spend my life in service to God and those still in the grips of addiction.

Last Call is a story of redemption. It follows the life of Tommy Boyle; an addict whose life has spiraled to a low bottom and seems to have lost all meaning. The story is told by a third party unrelated to the events within the novel. He is a man named Joe who receives what is to be the last in a series of calls Tommy Boyle is making from a pay phone to members of his family. Joe was never meant to be the recipient of the call, but the call would impact him forevermore Call, examines Addiction, Redemption, and the Strength of Grace.

Manie Daniels Center

Love Soluble has opened a group home treatment center called the Manie Daniels Center (MDC), which is named after the founder’s late friend and former cell partner, Manie Daniels. Manie has been inspirational to the founder and Love Soluble’s mission during his life and also as a result of his death. The Manie Daniels Center is an 8-bed facility located between the Kingston and Ottawa area where they deliver a comprehensive model for addictions and recidivism treatment in a residential, communal living setting. The program lasts anywhere from 3 to 12 months, based on the complexity of each case and the client’s individual needs for treatment. The program consists of five main components. The program is completely unique in the sense that it offers many components of a variety of proven programs that exist exclusively and operate independently. Love Soluble combines these many parts collectively into one hybrid model for treatment tailored to fit the needs of this otherwise overlooked yet substantial group in this marginalized sector. Joseph Anthony Weber offers Last Call, a moving examination of addiction, recovery, and the redeeming power of faith, in a profoundly personal and moving story. The book, which was published in December 2024, is expected to be both a frightening voyage into the depths of hopelessness and a moving example of spiritual growth and human resiliency.

The Story at a Glance Last Call chronicles the turbulent life of Tommy Boyle, the main character who is battling the harsh reality of addiction. Weber explores the chaotic and frequently tragic moments of Tommy’s struggle through evocative storytelling. The book tells a story of self-discovery and restoration by faith, community, and sheer resolve while skillfully capturing the rawness of dependency.

As Tommy reflects on his previous life and the significant events that led him to confront his own problems, the prologue instantly establishes a compelling tone. Through the chapters “Powerless,” “The Dream,” and “Acceptance,” readers are presented with an uncompromising view of the psychological and physical consequences of addiction.

Themes and Dedication Weber dedicates the book to people who are battling addiction and to those who are trying to overcome their own obstacles. Last Call has a strong spiritual foundation and draws inspiration from religious teachings, which are summed up in its recurrent theme: “If the son sets you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

The story also highlights the significant impacts of family, spiritual direction, and community support. This is particularly evident in the acknowledgments, where Weber expresses gratitude to mentors from the 12-step program and his wife, Teresa, for their invaluable contributions to his own path.

Vision The purpose in writing this book is multi-faceted. Partly to deal with personal issues from my past, partly to demonstrate that there is hope at the end of addiction, dysfunction and incarceration. Our vision is that by offering lasting solutions based in love and compassion that individuals could break free from the bondage of addiction and find the freedom to live happy, healthy and productive lives. There is freedom in sobriety and most especially freedom in Christ!! The proceeds from this novel will be used to grow and aid the day-to-day operations of treatment centers in cooperation with Love Solu able.
