- A specialized team of psychologists at Northwestern Medicine helps patients learn to cope with their physical digestive symptoms and manage their psychological stressors so they can get more out of life, improving both their digestive health and overall functioning!
- Specialists who have special training in gastrointestinal psychology help patients who suffer from chronic digestive problems, pain and difficulties related to their weight.
- They understand that digestive problems steal a person’s time and energy and prevent them from doing the things they enjoy.
- Treatments like medical hypnosis and cognitive behavioral therapy for stress management help patients correct the communication between the gut and the brain so they begin to feel better and respond better to medications and even surgical interventions.
