Monica designs custom tours to Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, Europe, and South Asia. Originally from Indiana and Alabama, she’s an Indiana University alumna who has lived in Honolulu, NYC, Miami Beach, Stowe, Hillsdale, and Ojai.
Monica seeks out authentic experiences and works with travelers from all walks—families, adventurers, honeymooners, and CEOs. She believes travel fosters peace through cultural exchange and giving back.
I have co-owned this travel company for 27 years, spoken at many travel shows such as New York Times, London Times, and LA Times. Trained countless people in planning travel, and recently since Covid have taken on my own personal clients.
Before travel I was in telecommunications sales. My number 1 philosophy is people are not numbers, do everything you can to make them happy and they will sell for you. Now Yampu Tours plans travel for 90% repeat clients and referrals.
Yampu travel counselors work closely with clients to help them select the right trip to suit their budget and special interests. From weeks-long trips of a lifetime to just a few days away, Yampu has dozens of thoughtfully crafted trip itineraries that include everything from airfare and accommodations to meals and activities. Clients can book the suggested tours outlined in Yampu’s brochure and website, but they also have the flexibility to mix and match elements from different itineraries or build a journey completely from scratch.
Every tour is guided by the experts and, depending on the nature of the journey, the guides may be a renowned conservationist, an acclaimed chef, a shaman trained in ancient spiritual practices or a local personality who knows every street of his city like the back of his hand.
Tours and explorations suited to specific interests are offered in each of the following categories, among others: adventure, sports (kayaking, hiking, fishing, skiing, etc.), eco-tourism/wildlife, spiritual/holistic healing, spa/yoga, snorkeling/scuba, culinary/wine, family, sun and beach, wedding/honeymoon and off the beaten path.
