BIO ~ Chip Scholz
Executive Coach, Author, and Woodturner
Chip believes the best lessons in leadership and life
often come from paying attention to small moments. Through storytelling, coaching, and time at the lathe, he explores how craft, character, and everyday decisions shape the lives we build. I was raised in Wheaton, IL, BA in Business at Illinois Wesleyan University.
I started my career in sales and management and eventually found my way into lobbying, a role I fell into more than planned. When that chapter ended, I realized I wanted to build something of my own rather than work inside another organization, so I started my coaching practice and learned as I went. Along the way, woodturning became a creative counterbalance—reminding me that good work, like good craft, takes patience and attention.
I run a coaching and advisory practice where I work with leaders and business owners who are trying to think more clearly about their work, their decisions, and the lives they’re building.
Much of my work involves helping experienced professionals’ step back from the noise of titles and expectations so they can make thoughtful choices about what comes next. Alongside the coaching work, I write and teach, and I spend time in my woodshop as a woodturner, which has become a surprising source of insight about patience, craft, and leadership.
