Underwriter Nova Home Loans
I was born in Illinois, but my family moved to Washington state when I was three. That is still home to me. I’ve lived in Utah, Colorado and now I’ve been in Arizona for over 20 years.
I started as a bank teller my senior year in high school. From there I learned new accounts and consumer lending.
Then in 1997 I attended a mortgage origination class and have been in mortgages ever since. I was a loan originator in Washington Mutual offices in Washington and in Utah. Then I switched to the operations side; I started as a processor.
I started working for Countrywide in 2002 where I was a processor, but I had a great manager who taught me how to underwrite. I was an operations manager for a few years at Countrywide before the industry tanked in 2008.
Then in 2009 I started at Nova and have been an underwriter ever since. During the years I’ve been at Nova I went from underwriting just conventional and FHA loans, to now where I also underwrite USDA, a wide variety of DPAs, VA and VA appraisals (they require different nominations and test cases).
