ABOUT ~ Max Parks
Max was raised in Tucson, Arizona.
He graduated from Palo Verde High School in 78′. Not long after high school Max became a truck driver, but wanted something more for his career. He decided to give firefighting a try and applied to the academy in 82′.
After completing the fire academy and one year probation, he became a permanent firefighter for the Tucson Fire Department. Over the course of his career he had several promotions, but eventually retired after 31 years as a Captain.
In Max’s 31 years of running emergency calls as a firefighter, he experienced everything from the most minor of emergencies all the way to the most horrific. Though most people know and love firefighters for what they do, they don’t really know all that firefighters get involved with in the community through those 911 calls.
Throughout his career, Max has witnessed tragedy, heartache, fear, sadness, pain, and everything in between. Beyond the 911 calls, he also experienced memorable time at the fire station, building lasting relationships with fellow firefighters, managing work and home-life balance, and so much more.
Being on the fire department for 31 years gave Max some incredible memories and stories that most people never get to hear about, until now. The Riding Big Red Podcast unveils the untold stories of a firefighter and all of the experiences Max had on the fire department.

I am a native Tucsonan. I graduated from Palo Verde High School in 06′ and then pursued further education at the University of Arizona. I transferred and completed my Bachelors in Business Management at the University of Phoenix.
After completing college I went on to become a Program Manager for a company that specializes in providing resources for individuals with disabilities, their families and their communities.
I was with this company for serval years until I had my first child and decided to take a break from the workforce to focus on caring for him. I had two other children and have been a Domestic Engineer (stay-at-home-mom) for the last ten years.
Over the last two years I have been working on a podcast with my dad called Riding Big Red. This podcast unveils the stark reality of what firefighters encounter throughout their career and tells the untold stories that the public rarely gets to hear about. We talk about things that are not only informative, but also gripping and thought provoking.
Our unique dynamic gives listeners two perspectives. These are all stories I am hearing for the first time so I get to ask what the listener would want to know. Our goal is to not only entertain, but also to spread awareness about the physical and mental load that comes with the career.
