BIO ~ Amanda Marks
Program Director at Tu Nidito Children and Family Services
I was raised in Tucson; and earned my bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Colorado-Boulder and then earned my MSW from Columbia University. Well done!
Then I worked as a pediatric oncology social worker at The Children’s Hospital Colorado, helping families cope with the emotional aspects of a child’s cancer diagnosis. I found that to be a very emotional role.
In 2007, I began working at Tu Nidito to support families impacted by a serious medical condition or death. My calling was to go down to go down this journey.
Prior to becoming the Program Director, I was the Community Impact Director providing grief education to schools and community agencies in an effort to increase awareness and understanding about childhood grief.
As the Program Director I am dedicated to creating a grief-informed community so that no child grieves alone. A massive mission but we can achieve it!
Tu Nidito exists to establish a compassionate community of acceptance and understanding for those grieving a serious medical condition or death. Our vision is that no child grieves alone.
We are the only organization in Southern Arizona to provide this continuum of programs for children and families grieving a serious medical condition or death of a special person.
Tu Nidito is your place for grief support and provides emotional, social and educational support programs. Tu Nidito’s support programs are offered through one-on-one and group meetings, as well as through professional workshops for children, teens, young adults, marginalized youth and caregivers.
Programs and services are offered at no cost and for typically up to 24 months, in English and Spanish. Tu Nidito is dedicated to advancing child-centered grief support in our community.
