Armed with an Associate’s Degree from Lansing Community College, coupled with certification in Aging Studies, Cherie brings to the table over 15 years of dedicated experience in working with older adults within her community. Cherie’s commitment to those she serves is evident in her passion for creating a local hub that connects older adults and their families to a wealth of information, programs, services, and activities.

Her goal is to provide a space that keeps people engaged and active, emphasizing the importance of staying attuned to the evolving needs of the community’s older adults. This ensures that the center consistently delivers relevant information, services, education, and enjoyable activities that foster new and old friendships alike. Throughout her tenure as the Meridian Senior Center Coordinator, Cherie has demonstrated her organizational prowess by implementing and streamlining various daily processes for reporting and record-keeping. In her leisure time, Cherie finds joy in the company of her husband, three adult children, and extended family. As a relatively new equestrian, she has owned her horse Diamond for just over a year. Cherie and her husband Brian cherish weekends spent snowmobiling, kayaking, camping, and indulging in tropical destination vacations.

BIO ~ Howard Weyers

Attorney for family & Elder Law

After nearly 25 years in the employee benefits industry, I decided to go back to school to pursue my dream of becoming an attorney.
Coincidentally, I had the privilege of being a primary caregiver for my mother as she struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease. Also, a close friend was working with dementia and Alzheimer’s patients.
The struggles of patients and their families, the wear and tear, both financially and emotional, set my heart on fire with a passion to help those in need when struggling family illness of any kind.
I believe all these experiences occurred at or around the same time to inspire me to pursue a career in the areas of estate planning and elder law. Specifically, to help families plan for and endure in times of need.
