About Maria Robold
I was born and raised in Tucson, and I love it here. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Dave for 42 years.
We have four grown children, three boys and a girl.
In my spare time, my favorite thing to do is hang out with my grandchildren. The oldest is 13, and the youngest is six weeks. When I’m not playing with Legos or cuddling grandbabies, my husband and I like to hike, camp, and go waterfall hunting.
At the beginning of his senior year in high school, our youngest child, Andrew, surprised us one day when he told us he was joining the Marines.
It was really a shock because he had always been interested in the Air Force, but never got serious about wanting to join. I really had no prior experience with the military, except for an uncle who served in Viet Nam, so I was nervous about it.
When he joined up in 2010, I found out about Tucson Area Marine Moms, which was a great source of support for me. I became the president in 2012.
My son is now a veteran, but still works with, and deploys with the Marines as a contractor.
Tucson Area Marine Moms is primarily a support group to mothers of United States Marines. Along with monthly support meetings, we hold quarterly care package events, where we pack 100 care packages for deployed service members of all branches.
We are a 100% volunteer organization and rely on donations from the community. Our main fundraiser for the year will be a Poker Run on October 9th, which will include a hi/lo hand payout, a raffle, and a 50/50.
We are also selling tickets for a gun raffle that will be drawn after the run.
